Alyssa Murray

Alyssa (sher/her) would like to start by saying "HellloooOoOooOooOo !!" After working camp in 2022 as an Ospreys (13-14 year olds) counselor, filling in in 2023 as an Ospreys and Marmots (11-12 year olds) counselor, and working this past summer as a Coordinator for Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion and Teens (15-18 year olds) counselor, she could not be more grateful to return to Camp for her ***FOURTH*** summer as the Staph Director ! In this role, Alyssa hopes to support anyone and everyone interested in applying to Camp, even those who may think Camp isn’t the place for them, feel seen and supported throughout the entire application process. She plans to continue much of the initiatives she started last year as a Coordinator for DEI uplifting all staph and guests of color and other marginalized backgrounds so that they can flourish at Camp. This work aligns with her academic pursuits as she has studied Comparative Studies for Race and Ethnicity and Human Biology. She is deeply passionate about and interested in healthcare equity for women of color, particularly formerly incarcerated Black women's health outcomes and undocumented women and girls' access to sexual and reproductive healthcare, as well as youth political education and community organizing.

Alyssa’s three favorite things are 1) talking about camp, 2) meeting new friends, and 3) drinking iced oat milk lattes so email her if you want to do all three of these at the new Coho at the Alumni Center where she works ! She would love to chat with you about how her identities and other marginalized identities are supported at camp, why breakfast foods at non-traditional breakfast hours are superior, what new skills she learned and personal growth she had during her summers, and choosing between camp and other summer opportunities/internships.
