More about Alyssa: Alyssa was born and raised in Kansas and, well with not much to do there, has always enjoyed spending her time exploring the outdoors with her four younger siblings or reading poetry for fun! She loves swimming and hiking, but if you can't find her at the beach or on a trail somewhere she's probably procuring some snacks from the kitchen. Whenever she finds time to get off campus she always goes to the beach or gets food truck tacos in San Jose. On campus she plays on the women's club soccer team, reads A TON (some of her favorites include Ta-Nehisi Coates, Sonia Sanchez, and Isabel Allende), and works on various social justice projects! She is super passionate about healthcare equity and access, specifically pertaining to women and girls' sexual and reproductive health and immigrant health rights, and last summer worked with an LGBTQ+ Latinx nonprofit to write a bilingual sexual health curriculum for transgender Latinx men. This summer she could not be more EXCITED to be at camp and is dying to meet everyone!
