Jae Sobers

Hometown: Trinidad and Tobago

Major: Civil and Environmental Engineering

Three things I love to do at Stanford outside of class: SOCIAL DANCE, being an RA and singing with my a cappella group Testimony!

I could talk all day about: Trinidad and Tobago my family and all that I miss and love about home. But even more so, I love listening to other people's stories of their families and where they are from!

I would love to connect with guests who work in fields related to: Civil Engineering - especially if they're involved in Structural Engineering! Or anyone working in an engineering-based firm. Beyond that, I'm also really fascinated by natural hazards and have some experience doing research relating to seismic risks. So if you're into Earth Sciences or Geological Sciences I'd love to strike up some conversations about that as well!

Biosketch: You may remember her as the Black Cat during 80's BINGO, or perhaps the defending champion of Beach Day's Limbo Competition! Maybe you were even there for her summer 2022 wedding hosted by her mergansers kids group right on the Old Lodge's Deck. Well, let me tell you, JAE IS BACK for her second year of being a part of the SSC family and she is ... IN THE OFFICE! And trust me, she is so hyped to start your week off on the right note, bringing her joy and energy to you first thing at check in!

This past year, Jae spent her time balancing academics with her beloved job of RA-ing two years in a row and endless fun and fulfilment through her Christian a cappella group where she travelled around the US performing and doing volunteer work. Since Jae is going to be a senior and one of our very few international student, this just might be her last year at camp... but that's why she's so excited about working in the office! Jae can't wait to have time to get to know adults and kids alike through all the fun and diverse activities that camp has to offer. All you have to do is look for her warm signature smile :)
