Peter Muhitch

Hometown: Exeter, Rhode Island

Major: Earth Systems Science

Three things I love to do at Stanford outside of class: Miscellaneous outdoor exercise activities, eat, play music

I could talk all day about: Food systems, agriculture, environmental chemistry, folk music, random stuff from the 19th century

I would love to connect with guests who work in fields related to: Environmental remediation! Food! Agriculture! Chemistry! Being passionate about their work!

Biosketch: Pete proudly hails from the smallest state, but the state with the biggest heart--Rhode Island. After living in a small farm town there for the first 18 years of his life, he now finds himself studying Earth Systems at Stanford. It was in the woods of Rhody where he developed a love for climbing trees and playing in dirt as well as a concern for the planet's future. Academically, this has translated to a fascination with the language of chemistry, soils, agriculture, and the roles they play with our relationship to the Earth. When not researching the effects of cover cropping on nitrogen cycling, you can find Pete climbing fake rocks in a gym, sweating up at the dish, or playing an assortment of stringed instruments.
