Mercer Weis

Hometown: Claremont, CA

Major: Environmental Systems Engineering

Three things I love to do at Stanford outside of class: Practicing with club swim (especially during spring quarter!), walking visitors around campus as a tour guide, and seeing friends in coho with a caramel macchiato in hand!

I could talk all day about: Swimming, film photography, grey’s anatomy, fun socks, sleeping bag pants (trust me, they are life-changing), environmental chemistry, & weather/forecasting!

I would love to connect with guests who work in fields related to: Civil & environmental engineering, broadcasting, meteorology, ocean science, healthcare, and people-facing jobs in general

Biosketch: Mercer is a Southern Californian at heart but thrilled to spend his first summer in Northern California as a Crawdads Counselor (5-6 year-olds)!! On campus, Mercer is a sophomore majoring in Environmental Systems Engineering deciding whether he will focus on coastal or freshwater environments. He has become a master backwards walker as a tour guide and is considering becoming a master backwards swimmer with his club swim friends. Mercer teaches earth sciences to elementary school students in Stanford’s Geokids Program and is looking forward to bringing some of the games/lessons to the Crawdads over the summer. At home, he has a sister Kendell who loves acting, a long-haired dachshund named Penelope, and two amazing parents. Film photography is one of his favorite hobbies when at home and knows that Sierra Camp will be the best place to practice. Mercer cannot wait to meet all of you at meals, on hikes, during programming, or in the lake during the summer!!
