Gwen Spencer

Hometown: Menlo Park, California

Major: Double major in screenwriting and creative writing!

Three things I love to do at Stanford outside of class: Write revise and write again, sunrise polar plunging at Miramar beach, and photography!

I could talk all day about: The genius of Ocean's 11, screenwriting structure, the importance of storytelling, AI and storytelling, Harry Styles, Taylor Swift, love and grief as chronic conditions, The Office, Parks and Recreation, Derry Girls... the list truly goes on!

I would love to connect with guests who work in fields related to: film and writing industries, or really anything creative!

Biosketch: Gwen, sometimes known as Gdubs, LaLa, or Gwenny, grew up in the Bay Area, walking to Town and Country, and walking through the towering trees of the Arboretum. As a kid, Gwen felt a strong connection to storytelling, whether it be tales of magical unicorns from her dad, or the arcs and bends of "Wizards of Waverly Place." Soon after her stint binge-watching Disney shows, she moved towards "The Office" which she has now watched nine times over. Now, Gwen hopes to develop her very own version of "The Office" as she delves into the screenwriting world, hoping to land in television as a showrunner, or a writer-director in film! In her writing, Gwen hopes to tell atypical stories about atypical people, to think about grief and love, and to explore new ways to deliver stories to audiences. Outside of storytelling, Gwen loves to be in nature, listen to music, chase after sunrises, and play around with her five (yes, five) cats! Gwen worked last summer as a photographer at Sierra Camp, and this summer, she'll will be one of the Ospreys counselors and she could not be more excited!
