Katherine Lai

Hometown: Mountain View, CA
Major: Undecided but interested in Earth Systems and Comparative Studies in Race and Ethnicity (with a focus on environmental justice!)
Three! Things! I! Love! Hangout at Lake Lag and people watch + appreciate all the beauty of the lake and the surrounding nature! Have really meaningful conversations with my friends over a meal!! Play sand volleyball with my friends!
I could talk all day about environmental justice, community-centered leadership, imagination and the power of telling stories, schitt's creek and other sitcoms, volleyball and teamwork more generally, theater, people i loveee
I'd love to connect with folks who have experience with the environment, sustainability, social justice, design, psychology, and law!

Katherine is so excited and hopeful for Camp this year because of every one of you reading this bio! She can’t wait to make beautiful connections with you, see you for who you are, and hear all the stories that compose your life. Family and community are some of the most important things to Katherine because of how they’ve shaped her and helped her figure out who she wants to be (though she’s still figuring that out and would love to share this journey with you!). For this reason, she hopes to make family out of everyone she meets at Camp and get to know who they are and who they want to be. Since coming to Stanford, she feels most grateful for the people she’s met, who have taught her how to love more deeply and healthily, who have taught her to ask questions and be curious about the world and especially about the environment, and who have brought her heart and soul to life! She hopes to bring a little bit of all these people with her to Camp and share them with all of you! If you ever want to grab a cup of coffee and chat, or chat over a playful game of volleyball, or on a beautiful hike in the gorgeous surroundings of Camp, she is down for it ALL! Please do not hesitate to reach out or let her know if there’s anything she can do to make you more comfortable and make your time at Camp feel a little more like home :)
